Transportation Supervisor
Hunter-Tannersville Central School District is seeking a Transportation Supervisor with an anticipated start date on or about February 1, 2025. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the district’s transportation operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services for students in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
This is a civil service position, and all civil service requirements apply, including taking and passing the civil service exam when offered.
Position Overview
Leadership & Supervision:
Supervise, train, and evaluate transportation staff, including drivers, dispatchers, and mechanics.
Foster a positive work environment and resolve employee concerns effectively.
Operations Management:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily bus routes, schedules, and special transportation services.
Develop contingency plans for inclement weather, delays, or emergencies.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and transportation laws.
Conduct safety drills and training for staff and students.
Budget & Resource Management:
Manage the transportation budget, including fuel, maintenance, and staffing.
Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
Communication & Community Engagement:
Serve as the primary liaison between the transportation department, schools, parents, and the community.
Address concerns and provide timely updates on transportation issues.
Qualifications
The minimum requirements for this position are as follows:
Graduation from HS or GED and either:
a.) Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR
b.) Five years of experience in the operation of multi-passenger vehicles or the dispatching of motor equipment; OR
c.) Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
*Special Requirements for acceptance of applications: Eligibility for the appropriate level New York State Driver’s License at the time of application, and POSSESSION of valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
*MUST be able to clear fingerprint requirements as prescribed by law.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid CDL (Class B) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred.
Successful completion of NYSED or equivalent state-mandated training programs.

Bus Driver
Hunter- Tannersville Central School District is seeking a Bus Driver. Starting Pay - $16.00-$20.00/hr depending on license class. Hours are approximately 6 hr/day split in 2 shifts.
